It's e-lectrifying! Halfords is calling on residents of Loughborough to test e-bikes for up to 6 hours in new e-bike trials

• Local MP Jane Hunt visited the Loughborough store to kick off the trials, where residents will have the opportunity to trial an e-bike for free for up to six hours
• Halfords are giving customers a selection of 12 e-bikes to choose from

Halfords has today announced that it will be offering a total of three million hours of free e-bike trials over the course of the next year, with residents in Loughborough to be among the first given the chance to take part. With residents treated to a choice of up to 12 e-bikes, customers will be given the opportunity to try out the bike for up to six hours.

Local MP Jane Hunt visited her local store in Willowbrook Park yesterday morning to kick off the trials.

Commenting, she said: “Loughborough is full of athletes, many of whom have just competed in the Olympic Games. So, I was inspired to give this a go and I absolutely loved it! Thanks to Halfords colleague Sam for his help and advice.”

With up to six hours to trial the bike, customers are given ample time to get a feel for their chosen e-bike; including the range, comfortability and speed - so they can ride away confident that their questions have been answered.

Sam Fok, Halfords deputy store manager, said: "It was a pleasure to welcome our local MP to the store to launch Halfords' e-bike trials. We look forward to supporting many more customers across Loughborough in trialling an e-bike, as part of our work to support the UK in making the switch to cleaner, greener electric forms of transport."

With one in three workers being reluctant to commute to work by public transport, e-bikes offer a feasible alternative and make cycling far more accessible for all. Riders of all ages can tackle more challenging journeys, get to places faster and with less exertion, putting the fun back into boring old journeys.

Taking part in the new trial couldn’t be easier- customers simply enter their postcode into the Halfords e-bike trial finder, and they are shown availability at their local store. From there, they can choose a day and time that suits them and book their slot - a £50 deposit will be taken when the bike is collected, however is refunded in full when returned.
