The Bull & Bush, a community pub in the heart of Shepshed, hosted a visit from the Local MP for Loughborough, Jane Hunt on Thursday 12th August. The pub owned by UK’s pub group, Admiral Taverns and is run by passionate licensees, Laura and Nez Hoult.
Jane Hunt, Local MP for Loughborough commented on the visit: “It’s been a few months since I last visited Laura and Nez at the Bull & Bush, and I was wowed by the progress they’ve made since I was last there. They have transformed the garden area, which can now be used all year round. It was great to hear how well they’ve been doing recently and to hear their optimism for the pub and the wider community. They are an asset to the town.”
Pubs have highlighted the important role they play in communities and everyday lives over the past year, bringing people closer together, even when shut. The Bull & Bush is a great example, who despite being shut, set up a Facebook group for their regular customers to keep in touch, with chats ranging from music discussions to quiz questions.
Laura Hoult, licensee at the Bull & Bush commented: "We’ve thoroughly enjoyed welcoming Jane to the pub again, and discussing the work we have been doing over the past year. It’s fantastic to be recognised as a vital asset to the community and show her our incredible pub which has been massively supported by Admiral Taverns”.
John Lobley, Business Development Manager at Admiral Taverns, added: “The Bull & Bush is an excellent example of a great community pub at its best. Laura, Nez and the team have worked tremendously hard over the past two years in supporting their community, offering a helping hand even when closed, so it’s great to see support from the local MP, Jane Hunt who has always been on hand to help local businesses.
Here at Admiral, we have a taken a highly supportive approach over the pandemic and are now calling for support in campaigning to highlight the important role pubs play in our lives and communities. It is great to have Jane’s support in this.”
