- Weduc, a communication platform for schools, has received a six-figure investment from Foresight Group, a specialist private equity investment manager.
- Weduc’s first customers were Loughborough schools – one of which it thanked in person for their support – along with local MP, Jane Hunt, who welcomed the investment in the local area.
- Weduc’s former parent company, Accrosoft, has been acquired by US company, Acendre, whose CEO co-founded Xbox.
Weduc, a Loughborough-based software company, has announced a significant investment into its business from Foresight Group LLP (“Foresight”), a specialist private equity investment manager.
It comes as Weduc announces its parting from former parent company, Loughborough-based Accrosoft, which has been acquired by US firm, Acendre.
Weduc was founded in Loughborough in 2017 by Alex Khakbiz and Daniel Woodcock and employs 21 people, many of whom are based in the local area.
Weduc provides an all in one communications platform for schools, colleges and universities, enabling them to transform their engagement with parents, staff, students and other key stakeholders. The Weduc platform is accessed via an online portal, where education staff can post messages and news as part of a coordinated communications strategy, which is then received by stakeholders via the Weduc app on their mobile device.
Weduc has positioned itself as a disruptor within the EdTech market, challenging the complacency of its competitors and pushing them to keep pace with its rapid development. Its agile approach, talented team of developers and strong partnerships with other software providers enabled the company to include online payments, home learning and remote parents’ evenings to its platform.
When the Covid pandemic hit in 2020 Weduc saw a dramatic increase in customers and usage as schools realised the necessity for integrated online services.
Weduc was founded under its parent company, Accrosoft, whose product ‘Vacancy Filler’ is one of the UK’s leading Applicant Tracking Systems. Accrosoft has been acquired by US company, Acendre, who CEO is Otto Berkes, co-founder of Xbox.
Daniel Woodcock, Managing Director of Weduc said:
“These are exciting times for Weduc. We have grown rapidly and now, with new focus and the investment from Foresight, we are able to execute our ambitious plans to revolutionise the school communications market.
“Weduc has always been about understanding schools and their communities – and that started here in Loughborough, where local schools were some of our first customers. Their belief in us and the Weduc platform helped boost our growth and get us to this fantastic position today.
“I’m delighted that the new investment in Weduc means that we are now looking to recruit more people to join our team – as developers, programmers, support managers and right across the business.”
Loughborough MP, Jane Hunt, said:
“I welcome this investment in Weduc, one of Loughborough’s leading software companies. I’ve watched them grow over the years in partnership with Accrosoft and wish both companies well as they move into this next, exciting phase of their growth. Such investment highlights how Loughborough has the local talent, infrastructure and connections needed to make it a great place to do business. That such success is partly down to the support from local schools just goes to show what a fantastic local community we have, with everyone pulling together for the good of the area.”
Carl Saunders, Headteacher, Cobden Primary School, said:
“Weduc has been our school communications partner for several years. Their school app helps ensure that everyone in our school community is fully engaged and up to date. This was particularly useful during the Covid lockdowns when we also used them for remote parents’ evenings. We are proud to be supporting a local business and wish them well as they start this next exciting stage of growth.”
