Loughborough MP Jane Hunt stated that she was “incredibly impressed” following a visit she made to Shepshed-based company, Urgo Medical. In her first visit since being elected as an MP, Jane was shown around Urgo’s factory, where they produce wound management products which are distributed around the world. Following the tour, Jane sat down with General Manager, Antoine Fontan, to discuss how the company had managed to adapt to the challenges posed by the global pandemic, as well how it was addressing future challenges and opportunities within the current NHS context.
Jane was able to see some of the products Urgo produce on the site, such as the high-quality compression hosiery, which is used by people who suffer from chronic wounds like leg ulcers and lymphedema, deteriorating their quality of life. She also heard about the innovative work on artificial skin to treat severe burns being undertaken by the company, which has received praise from none other than the French President, Emmanuel Macron.
Following her visit, Jane commented:

I am proud to having such a great company based in Shepshed. I thank Antoine and the whole Urgo team for all they do to help people around the globe. Their ground-breaking wound management products have not only help to save lives, but also improved recovery times.
“It’s great to see Shepshed-based companies such as Urgo doing so well. I will do all I can as Shepshed’s MP to see that continue.”
