In November 2021, the Department for Education launched a £12 million Family Hubs Transformation Fund to support 12 local authorities to transform to a family hubs model of service delivery and open family hubs.
In May 2022, the Government announced the first wave of seven successful local authorities and, today, announced the final five local authorities that are being funded through this programme, including Leicestershire County Council.
Commenting on the announcement, Jane Hunt MP said:
Championing family hubs was a manifesto commitment, and so I am delighted that Leicestershire County Council has been selected from a total of 84 bids to receive funding through the Family Hubs Transformation Fund.
The Family Hub will provide a single point of access to a range of universal services across the local community and ensure that, those who need additional help, receive more targeted support. Previously some of these services could be disjointed and hard to navigate so the family hub will play a key role in bringing them together and delivering better outcomes for babies, children, parents and carers.
All 12 local authorities, including those announced today, have now received their full portion of funding for the 2022-23 financial year and have begun their transformation journey.
