A healthy local economy

Anyone who has followed my work locally will know two things: I am all about Loughborough, and I am all about Small Business. There was no better way to combine the two than by hosting my recent “Kick off your business” event, which was held at the government funded Careers and Enterprise hub.

Our local farmers work hard year round, and not only contribute to our nation's food security, but also help preserve and protect our local environment and green spaces, and play a crucial role in driving economic growth locally (part of my 6-point plan for Loughborough). We have some wonderful

Whilst I was Minister for Small Business, in the summer of 2022, the Government supported the introduction of the Employment (Allocation of tips) Bill, which has just received Royal Assent.

As another year comes to a close, this December and in the run up to Christmas, I have been thinking about independent retailers and the part that they play in our high street and community.

Throughout my time as the Member of Parliament for Loughborough, listening to and supporting constituents with local concerns has been at the forefront of my agenda. So, it was great to join the East Midlands Housing Group for a ‘Ward Walk’ on the 7th of October at Ladybird Close.
